Born of Fire
Today I sat in service, listening to another Easter message. I say "another", like it's just the same old thing year after year, but thankfully, it wasn't like that. There were a few things that struck me this year that just had me thinking more holistically about the whole event, and opened up the conversation …
it's hard when this day forces an attitude of thankfulness, when all you want to do is clean your nets and do a reboot. I think though that Jesus likes using situations like this to give the gift of full nets... to bring me, and us, back to Thankfulness.
I can see God sitting on the edge of his seat, watching with the intensity of a game changing play in the Superbowl... "Did you see that! Did you see that! I'm wearing my David jersey! He just killed that play!"
They were not only content to do what they had always done, their life depended upon it. So, they would rather die doing what they knew what was right for them, than live with something that would not give them life and meaning.
More literally, Make me see your glory. I know it's here, it's around me, it's in your promise, but right now, I need to see it. I need to know it's real, not just because I believe it. If I am going to be present in this, I need you to be present in it too.
